Hello. Welcome to the Art of Healing Podcast. I'm Dr. Charlize, physician and Reiki Master, and it is my passion to guide you through the world of science and spirit, where we explore how energy meets hormones. So this is a big time for shopping with the Black Friday and then upcoming Cyber Monday. So while I know this is not exactly a spiritual holiday, I do want you to know that using your resources wisely to support your health is one of the best things that you can do. So I wanted to create this episode to show you what is the best use of your resources. Before we get into my all-time favorite supplements for most all of us, I want to remind you of my resource, chakras and hormones. I have a downloadable resource that will help you discover the connection between your subtle energy body, the part of your physical being that you don't feel or touch, but does help create your energy, and your endocrine system or your hormones. In this downloadable, you'll discover the connection between how some of these chemical messengers or hormones are affecting your mood, how you feel physically, and your life as a whole. I think this is a really cool way to explore this topic and help you make some discoveries about yourself, particularly if you are experiencing the hormonal changes that come with perimenopause and menopause. I am picking products that I have personally used that I've recommended for my patients and my clients. And in particular, the full scripts platform in my dispensary is a very important part of my work with my patients because I know that they guarantee the highest quality of supplements that are independently laboratory tested. You're safe with what you're getting, and even if you have a problem, they are so responsive. To get started, I'd like to emphasize that I do believe that the best way to approach your health is to try to get in all of the nutrients and vitamins and everything you need from your diet. Of course, that's the best. But for a lot of reasons, travel, busy schedule, so many things, it just isn't possible. So to make sure you get all of the necessary nutrients that your body needs to rebuild, to recover, to regrow, one of the first things you want to make sure you have is a high-quality multivitamin. I like to think of a multivitamin as the root, including root chakra, of all the supplements because it's the place you want to start. It's the basis that builds everything else. And with a high-quality multivitamin, you'll be making sure you get in some of those harder to get essentials and nutrients, particularly things like zinc and selenium that keep your thyroid functioning healthy, methylated B vitamins for your energy, magnesium to help your muscles relax, help you sleep, and help your digestive tract move easily. So making sure you have a great multivitamin is the way to go. In my Full Scripts Dispensary, there are several multivitamins that I recommend. One of my favorites is currently out of stock, unfortunately, because it is absolutely my favorite. But there are many alternatives, and once you register in my Full Scripts dispensary, you'll have access to some of the ones that I recommend. Also, you'll have access to the entire catalog. One of the things I like with their catalog is that you're able to search for your individual wants and needs. So if you're looking for a multivitamin that's going to help with your metabolic health and help encourage weight, there are several multivitamins that contain additional nutraceuticals that can help with that. If you are a woman in her 40s or 50s who's dealing with hormonal shifts and changes, you want to make sure you've got enough vitamin D and additional ingredients to help support your mitochondrial health. And there's multivitamins for that as well. So again, in my Full Scripts dispensary, I have several plans that include some of them that I recommend. Because we're listening on the podcast, I won't necessarily name them because it's kind of hard to look at them while you're listening. But in the show notes, you'll see how you can get launched and start shopping for yourself and for your family as well. My next recommendation: omega-3s are so very important. Omega-3s support your heart chakra and by supporting your heart. Those omega-3s keep the heart muscle strong, help keep your cholesterol in a happy place so your blood vessels stay nice and clean. And also omega-3s support the solar plexus chakra. So it's interesting if you look at the energetic reasons why you might take supplements. And omega-3s are very important in that. And it's one of the supplements that I recommend for most everyone. Many supplements I don't recommend for all people all the time. Not every solution works for everyone, but omega-3s for pretty much all of us, we need them to keep our brains healthy, keep our nerves healthy, and to reduce inflammation, stabilize our mood, support our memory, and our cells, it helps keep those cellular membranes nice and lubricated so the cellular membranes can exchange information as they were meant to do. You need a high-quality omega-3, particularly if you are dealing with anxiety, you have an immune system that tends to be overactive, you're suffering with any form of chronic pain. If you are dealing with perimenopause and you're noticing mood changes, and if you're prone to adrenal issues such as cortisol that's too high. So my absolute favorite omega-3, which is within my full scripts, is gonna be the Pro Omega D by Nordic Naturals. Nordic Naturals has actually been the omega-3 supplement I've recommended for several years. They actually have several different combinations, but their Pro Omega D is just a win-win because it includes the amount of vitamin D that you need as well as high quality, high potency omega-3s. And the important thing with theirs is that in some omega-3 supplements, because the source, which is typically going to be marine fish oils, they make sure to create a product that is not going to create that fishy taste. Super important. So it's very palatable. So you take it and you really don't notice it. It does have a slight lemon flavor. I do recommend taking it with meals, but otherwise it's just really one of the best because you take it and you really don't notice it. And I will say that I personally let my pro omega D run out. And then I checked my vitamin D levels, and I noticed some changes. So, you know, just like many women who are transitioning through perimenopause tendency towards dry eyes, dry skin, and just even though I'm a doctor, like everyone else, I forgot. I started to notice some of those symptoms were getting worse. And sure enough, when I checked my vitamin D, it was extremely low. And that's when I realized I had not been taking my pro omega D. So definitely get that pro omega D by Nordic Naturals. It's within my Full Scripts dispensary shop, and just one that I again highly recommend. You just can't go wrong. And the fact that it's got that vitamin D, which vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin, so combining it in an omega-3, perfect way to get everything that you need. The next category is a game changer: protein. Women over 40 almost always need to be aware of getting adequate amounts of protein. Women over 40, we tend to under eat protein. So this will show up with thinning of the hair, unstable blood sugars, including blood sugar crashes, being unable to lose weight when we desire weight loss, muscles feeling weak, and nonstop cravings. All of those are signs that your solar plexus chakra is crying out for help. Protein helps to stabilize your blood sugars, and by doing that, helps with stabilizing insulin. We don't want too much insulin because when we start to overproduce insulin, such as when we're overeating carbohydrates, that can lead to our blood sugars crashing. When you're shopping for your protein supplement, which I highly recommend signing up for my Full Scripts dispensary and shopping there, you'll be assured to find protein powders that have clean ingredients, no artificial sweeteners, good amino acid profiles, and a taste that you'll actually enjoy. And finally, one of my favorites and newer additions is on the Full Scripts dispensary.
